Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. This is a natural trait for a girl who was of Irish origin, and who was nurtured in her early days by talented relatives and parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin in Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based company and was the owner of a portion in "The Shamrock Rovers," a renowned Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons made up this beautiful family. Maureen was a natural athlete and was a fan of tough athletic games. She combined this interest with an equally natural aptitude for performing. Her winning of almost every Feis awards for her native country's drama and theatre performances proved the fact that she was a natural performer. As she reached the age of 14 she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dreams of classical theater and opera singing.
